E.P.P.A The European Pike Protection Alliance is an association of European Facebook Page holders and Group administrators that have teamed up in a unified attempt to promote correct pike handling and pike welfare in general. We do care for other European species as well! Lip Grips are one thing we do not appreciate or accept and we will not tolerate the promotion of them or their use on our respective social media groups and pages. Whilst it might be very fashionable outside of the EU we certainly wouldn’t like it to become a fashion within the EU.
The fact is that not one single species of European fish needs a Lip Grip to be dealt with and never has, years of traditional “chinning” throughout the UK, Scandinavia and mainland Europe shouldn’t be replaced by a Lip Grip that has nothing to do with proper C&R angling and causes damage to the fish mouth, teeth and internal organs by holding it and lifting it without supporting it’s body. This group was created to educate people and promote pike welfare NOT to slay people that do not know better. For us it’s about the principle and not the person individually – there’s no stupid questions so please feel free to ask any questions and we will be more than happy to respond! You can be professional without being a professional, put fish welfare first.

We have seen these used in Norway and in fact one of our clients very kindly bought me a Rapala version back from the USA, used them once, seen the damage they will do and they’ve been in the tackle room ever since, strangely enough though some of our more well known companies seem to be manufacturing/supplying these in ever greater numbers in the UK these days!
